Work Experience: 2008 to present: publisher of Journal of Nursing Jocularity. 1991 to present: working full time as a professional speaker, writer, and consultant. Primary topic is humor as it relates to health and business professionals. Past experience includes Instructor for ASN program at Hannibal LaGrange University in Hannibal, Missouri 1988-1991; AirMed (air ambulance) 1990-1991; School Nurse from 1986 to 1988; Instructor for Hannibal School of Practical Nursing 1983-1986; Marion County Health Department, 1983; Levering Hospital 1979-1983 (positions during this time included medical-surgical, emergency room, intensive care, and surgery, quality assurance); Pediatric nurse at Hannibal Clinic, 1979.

Professional Organizations: Member of Missouri Nurses Association (MoNA), 9th District, 1983 to present. Offices held include treasurer, secretary, vice president, president, and board member. Volunteer for AVENUES (an abused women’s shelter) 1989 to 2004. Member of Hannibal Public School Board, 1991-1994. 1995 Member of Planning Committee for C.H.A.R.T. (Community Health Assessment & Resource Team). Advisory Board member for “The Invisible Disabilities Advocate” 2008 to present.

Achievements: Voted “Nurse of the Year” 1991 by Missouri Nurses’ Association, 9th District. Chosen as “Young Business Woman, 1991″ by the Business and Professional Women, Hannibal, MO, 1991. Listed in Marqui’s Who’s Who in the Midwest; Who’s Who of American Women, 19th edition; The World Who’s Who of Women, 13th edition, Who’s Who World Wide and Who’s Who in Nursing. Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), NSA 1998. Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE)/Speaker Hall of Fame, NSA 2001. Lifetime Achievement Award, Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor 2004.
